Daily mouth care is not at all a simple task. Dental deposit (hard or soft material deposited on a tooth surface, such as dental calculus or plaque) may cover the surface of the teeth. The first step of every single dental treatment is the removal of dental scale, thus preventing gingivitis. Proper fillings and replacements can only be achieved when gums are healthy.
Dental deposits consist of food remains and minerals dissolved in the saliva. Tartar can cause gingivitis wherever it is adjacent to gums. Untreated gingivitis can cause bone reduction deep below the gum. In the long run, gingivitis causes tooth decay, gum decay and loosening of the teeth. Besides, toothing-stone is an unpleasant sight, not to mention the bad breaththat accompanies it.
Regular removal of dental deposit is recommended, approximately twice annually. The procedure is called ‘professional hygienic mouthcare’ (ultrasonic tartar removal, depuration). We depurate (cleanse) with an ultrasonic device cooled by water. The vibration from the device pulverises the dental deposit. Having removed the deposits from the surface of the teeth and from below the gums, we polish the surface of the teeth with rubber rings and polishing brushes and finally apply polishing paste to obtain smoothness.
