The whole content of the tooth, right down to the bottom of the canal, is completely emptied. This resultant deep cave is first sterilised and then filled with a special material that seals and heals perfectly and lastingly.
This disease is more often than not caused by bacteria. The infected parts of the tooth have to be removed completely with special tools and needles.
Before undertaking such a treatment, the dentist will use X-ray photography to decide whether the tooth is worth preserving. Sometimes the tooth is so riddled with bacteria that it cannot be saved and has to be removed. After a thorough examination, the affected area is removed, together with the nerve in the root-canal. The exact depth of the root canal is established. Once cleansed, the canal is dried with sterile medical slips of paper. The clean and totally emptied root canal is then be filled with a special material that ideally leaves no unfilled gaps in the canal.
